PGS Events for the Week of 8-12 February 2022

 Monday, 7-Feb-22 at 6:00 PM. RootsMagic 8--Part 4. This class explores the use of the latest version of this popular genealogy software program. It consists of five classes, each 1 ½ hours long, held for five consecutive weeks. It’s intent is to take the student from the basics of initial entry of family information to the more detailed topics of incorporating images in your family history, citing sources, and generating various reports. Wednesday, 9-Feb-22 at 1:00 PM. Scottish Ancestry and Immigration.       Learn about Scottish Ancestry and Immigration at the 37th Annual Genealogy Seminar sponsored by the DAR Caladesi Chapter in conjunction with the Scottish American Society of Dunedin.  It will be on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Scottish Cultural Center, 917 Louden Ave in Dunedin. This is free and open to the public.  There will be displays from lineage societies and members of the Daughters of the American Revolution to help find links to your family patriots.  Lori Coffey

Advanced Genetic Genealogy. This is a series of discussions led by David Vance, author of The Genealogist's Guide to Y-DNA Testing for Genetic Genealogy.  We will discuss chapter 14 this month.  Learn how Y-DNA is helpful in your genealogy (and how it is not!); understand Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) and Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) and how they can be analyzed to help solve genealogy problems; examine how to evaluate and use DNA Projects; Develop testing strategies and much, much more.  Attendees are expected to have read the monthly chapter(s) prior to the session. The book is available on Amazon.com, free through Kindle Unlimited, $28.60 for digital Kindle purchase or $48.94 for the print version.  Manning/Luce
