New Jersey Marriage Index Free Online at Internet Archive

The Reclaim the Records project gives us 115 years of New Jersey Marriages. The time period covered is 1901-2016. The collection is available at the Internet Archive.

When you get to the landing page, you will find each file is listed year-by-year. Opening a file will reveal the marriages listed alphabetically by surname. The collection of brides is listed first, followed by the grooms.

"Jornal Igreja Lusitana" Available Online from the Portuguese Public Archive

If you are interested in Portuguese ancestry research, this collection of digitized issues of the Lusitanian Church Newspaper -- "Jornal Igreja Lusitana" -- may be of interest to you. The collection covers the period 1894 to 1923.

As you may suspect, the collection is in Portuguese, so use of something like Google Translate may be necessary.

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay Meets on 9 December 2018

The Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay will meet at Gulf Coast Jewish Family & Community Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater, Florida on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM.

A “Pot Luck” luncheon will be served at 12 noon followed by a brief business meeting at 1:30 PM to elect and install new officers.  The program will feature “success stories” and “lessons learned” by members while researching their families.

There is no charge to members for the luncheon.  Non-members and guests will be charged $5 for the luncheon.  Reservations must be made by December 1st to ensure there will be ample food for those attending.  Make your reservation by calling Sally Israel at 727-343-1652.

Cemetery Listings of The Cemeteries in Savannah, Georgia Are Available Online

The city of Savannah owns and operates five cemeteries: Colonial Park, Laurel Grove North, Laurel Grove South, Bonaventure, and Greenwich. An online database of the burials in those cemeteries is available from the city of Savannah.

You can search an individual cemetery or all five of the cemeteries at once. Clicking on a name in your hit list will reveal additional detailed information. Given the historic nature of the Savannah cemeteries, this is a treasure of information.

Gravestone Photo Project for County Tyrone

The site "Ulster Ireland Genealogy," offers users a searchable database of photos dealing with headstones from County Tyrone. Click on the banner that says "County Tyrone--The Gravestone Project."

In addition to grave stones, you can do a Tyrone-wide search for other genealogical information. And, if you scroll down the page you can find links to the other counties in Ulster besides Tyrone.

Obituary and Death Notice from Lexington County, South Carolina, Available Online

South Carolina's Lexington County Public Library has made an obituary and death notice database available on line, taken from listings in several local newspapers. Those papers are: Lexington Dispatch, Lexington News, Lexington Dispatch-News, Lexington County Chronicle, Southern Headlight, Summerland Headlight, Twin City News, and West Columbia Journal.

The landing page offers the options of searching by name or browsing by date. A link to "more information" takes you ta a page explaining how to use the database, and an explanation of the abbreviations used.

Imperial War Museum Compiles Register of War Memorials

Great Britain's Imperial War Museum is compiling a register of United Kingdom war memorials, to include the names of the individuals listed on them. So far they have collected over 77,000 memorial in the UK, Channel Islands, and Isle of Man.

On the home page, click on the link to "War Memorials Register." That will take you to a page where you can search for a specific memorial, apply a selection of search filters, or browse the collection. Click on the image of a memorial to reveal additional information.
