January 2022 Events of the Suncoast Genealogy Society

 Tuesday, 04-Jan-2022, 2:30pm-4:00pm - SGS Board Meeting via Zoom - contact Debbie Smyth if you would like to attend.

Wednesday, 05-Jan-2022, 1:00-4:00pm - SGS Help Desk at the Palm Harbor Library will REOPEN for in person assistance.  We have been given permission to begin meeting with folks looking for genealogy assistance.  Our normal  schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 1-4pm will resume beginning Wednesday, 05-Jan-2022.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact Marianne Bradley.  We are especially in need of volunteers on the first Tuesday of each month.

Monday, 10-Jan-2022, 1:00pm-3:00pm - SGS DNA Interest Group in Person - We have been given permission to meet as a small group at the Palm Harbor Library. Jean Van Horn will present information about using Ancestry.com’s colored dot system to create groups and then using the groups to filter results, apply to a research project or question. 

Saturday, 22-Jan-2022, 1:00pm-3:00pm - SGS Membership Meeting via Zoom - What Happened to Great-Uncle George? A fun, genealogical whodunit demonstrating the use of Vivid-Pix Restore software for those who missed the presentation by owner Rick Voight.  Presented by Rosanne Bender

Tuesday, 18-Jan-2022, 1:00pm-3:00pm - SGS Help Desk in person- "Tech Tuesday" - Rosanne Bender will be offering computer assistance one Tuesday each month at the SGS Help Desk.  Watch for the schedule each month in the Searcher.  Or contact Rosanne to schedule a time to meet.

Finally from Marianne Bradley: "Our Holiday Party was a great success with Debbie Smyth and Jean Van Horn providing many intriguing trivia questions for us. Many on Christmas things and many on genealogy things. Very informative and fun with 16 of us sharing laughs and cheer."  Thank you to all who participated.  I know I for one was really disappointed I was not able to attend!
