PGS Events for the Week of 29 April to 4 May 2019

Monday, 29-Apr-19 at 10:00 AM--Library Databases. There are several databases subscribed to by the Largo Public Library that support genealogy research. Ancestry and HeritageQuest are the most well-known, but there are also American Ancestors, News Bank, and others. This class shows how to find and use those databases. Instructor: Summers, Local History Room, Largo Library.
Tuesday, 30-Apr-19 at 10:00 AM--Library of Congress Website. This class will cover what genealogy help it provides, veterans’ information, historic newspapers, digital collections, photographs, and use of the catalog. Instructor: Summers, Local History Room, Largo Library.
Thursday, 2-May-19 at 10:15 AM--Death Records. This class will focus on finding records to establish the death date of your deceased kinfolk. We will describe and demonstrate how and where to find many types of records and resources that will enable you to determine death dates. In addition to the commonly used records such as death certificates, tombstones, obituaries, death indexes, etc., you will discover some that you may not have considered. Saturday, 4-May-19 at 10:00 AM--Family Tree Maker User Group . Questions & Answers and Demonstration of how to use the Family Tree Maker genealogical database software.  This will be the last meeting until September. Instructor: Bryan-Hosmer.     Local History Room, Largo Library.
Saturday, 4-May-19 at 1:00 PM--Ancestry DNA: I have my results, what's next? This class is a basic DNA class that provides strategies and techniques for using your Ancestry DNA results to find new relatives and discover keys to the past. Bring your laptop if you like but it is not required. If you do, bring your Ancestry login and password! Instructor: Luce, Jenkins A, Largo Library.
