The Coal City Public Library District (southwest of Chicago, in Grundy and Will counties) gives us an obituary and death notice index online at their site. Simply enter the surname of interest to get a hit list showing name, source of the information, and the obituary date. Sometimes the person's age and other notes are also included. The source for the information is the Coal City Courant for the most part.
